"Cheerfulness, it would appear, is a matter which depends fully as much on the state of things within, as on the state of things without and around us." Charlotte Brontë

Hi. My name is Martha. I'm an embarrassment.

So, I just noticed something super embarrassing that I do. Here it is, well-documented:
Much as the scenery may look like New York City, I am in fact wearing a New York sweatshirt in the Swiss Alps.

Sporting the same New York gear in Paris. Of all the ways to scream "I'm an American tourist!" I think I chose the most effective one.

My Paris shirt traveled with me to Peru...Probably my companion turned her plaque around cuz she's embarrassed to be associated with such a noob..
Paris shirt makes an entrance in Bolivia. Notice how Hermana Harman to my left realizes that we're actually in Bolivia, not France, and she dresses accordingly. She's so clever.

London Loves--in Thailand. Not only does my shirt say London on it...it doesn't even make sense. "London Loves"?? Incomplete sentences are the.

This may be the most acceptable oopsy since I'm wearing an Ireland shirt in Wales--countries which aren't too terribly far apart geographically or culturally. All the same, it just makes me look confused.
More London lovin' in Mexico. Brittany kindly painted me and my shirt ("I love TJ"/Tijuana on the back)so that it's probably going to be retired now. All the future countries I'll visit express their gratitude.
So...this isn't acceptable. I'm embarrassed for myself. It either makes me look dense, like I can't remember where I am, or else it makes me look like I'm trying to broadcast the places I've been even as I go to new ones--which is still dense. Please forgive me. I promise I'll stop.

The Face of Mexico's Future

Some pictures I took while in Mexico of the beautiful children we spent time with.
